I found this the easiest blog site to set up. Blogs are great to put your ideas on line, to put up links you think are important, to network, etc.
Blogger is run by Google which is a bit of an idea to having it mentioned during a Google Search -- although lots of other sites linking to your blog and lots of hits on your blog are the big measuring factor for high Google listings.

Yahoo also offers a free blog - GeoCities Free -- at,:
       http://geocities.yahoo.com/
and
       http://360.yahoo.com/

MSN also offers a free blog that makes it easy to upload and share photos, at: http://spaces.live.com/

Other mainstream popular places to set up your own (free) blog are:

       www.wordpress.com
       http://www.myspace.com/
       http://www.facebook.com/

Besides these seven sites there are many others. A site like www.flickr.com specializes in photos but it also has groups and a forum discussions.
Picasa Web albums is another site specializing in uploading photos, sponsored by Google and found at, http://picasa.google.com/

___________

A site called Technorati is a good place to register your blog to give it wider distribution.

A site like 'Lefty Blog,' is a listing service for 'left-wing,' blogs, also giving possible wider attention.

AS AN INTRO: For those who are newbies, there are 'vivid' POSTING, discussion and community networking sites on the Net, At these sites you can often also 'link' to others and follow each others posts.

Clipmarks is my favorite. It has a nice interface snd easy to post clips from the web (once you get use to it). Fair amount of responses and comments. Can vote ("pop") articles you like or don't like up or down.

The other sites on this Trailfire are similar; although each has it's unique differences. Clipmarks is unique, for example, because rather than posting whole pages it's set up to post 'clips,' or just sections of pages.

Clipmarks also makes it easy to then take clip and post them on other sites like: digg, delicious, newsvine, reddit, stumble, furl, and others that will be in this trail.

Each site has it's unique features: Newsvine allows users to write their own articles as well as posting newsclips.Google is good for forming your own group. Some specialize in politics, etc.

This 'Trailfire' will provide a quick overview of what these various sites have to offer.
