voting right act 1965 is to enforce the 15th amendment to the constitution. African americans risked harassment and violence when they tried voting or registering, very few of the african americans were registered voters, they had very little powers. Johnson signed the legislation into law the next day. because the voting rights act of 1965 had highly significant statutory relationship changes, courts immediately challenged them. Ending 1965, .25 of a million black voters had been registeres. Voting right act was readopted in 1970,1975, and 1982.
-who was the president who signed the legislation into law,and how long did it take?
-when was the voting act readopted?
