Rosa parks was called "mother of the civil rights movement". She was a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama. But one afternoon when she was tired and she was convicted to arrested. She was known for not giving up her seat to a white man, so the driver called the police and had her arrested.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a young man who served his community until the present. he had a famous dream that everybody would get along, whites and blacks. He married Coretta Scott and and two sons and two daughters. He was a pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a strong leader for civil rights for the member of his race-black. In Washington, D.C. in front of 250,000 people to whom he addressed his famous speech "I Have A Dream".

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was in Montgomery, Alabama. It lasted for one year. The protest was because of racially segregated seating. African Americans eventually won their fight to desegregate seating on public buses throughout the U.S.. It started because of a young lady name Rosa Parks and her trail. Buses were nearly empty. Police roamed the streets with shotguns looking for "Negro goon squads".

The Civil Rights bill was brought before Congress in 1963 and in a speech on TV on June 11th , Kennedy pointed out that: "The Negro baby born in America today, regardless of the section of the nation in which he is born, has about one-half as much chance of completing high school as a white baby born in the same place on the same day; one third as much chance of completing college; one third as much chance of becoming a professional man; twice as much chance of becoming unemployed; about one-seventh as much chance of earning $10,000 a year; a life expectancy which is seven years shorter; and the prospects of earning only half as much." The 1964 Civil Rights Act made racial discrimination in public places, such as theaters, restaurants and hotels, illegal. It also required employers to provide equal employment opportunities. Projects involving federal funds could now be cut off if there was evidence of discriminated based on color, race or national origin. The Civil Rights Act also attempted to deal with the problem of African Americans being denied the vote in the Deep South.
