Gee’s Bend is a small rural community nestled into a curve in the Alabama River southwest of Selma, Alabama. Throughout much of the twentieth century, making quilts was considered a domestic responsibility for women in Gee's Bend. Women with large families often made dozens upon dozens of quilts over the course of their lives. A very interesting tradition.

Spain's annual San Fermin festival in Pamplona got off to a slippery and dangerous start as several thousand runners braved the world's most famous running of the bulls. The first of eight daily runs begins on the morning of each July 7, when thousands of people join six bulls that run 902 yards from a corral to a bull ring.
