Cars I Want - B-list

About this trail:
Unlike my Cars I Want trail, this trail is more about the cars I like that are more within reach than Porsches and Aston-Martins. Cars I like that are good for the price.

One of the best-looking VWs ever. As a hatchback fan, I love the sleek but still hatchbackish profile, with the low aggressive stance. The Corrado featured the debut of VW's brilliant VR6 engine (that would later grace my GTI), alongside a supercharged 1.8L 4-cylinder. Fifteen years later, they still look great.

Yes, it's a bastard child of both Saab and Subaru, but who wouldn't want a WRX with a better looking interior and exterior?

My favorite MR2 would have to be a supercharged first-generation. I already had a 2nd-generation turbo MR2, and I wouldn't mind having another one, though in better shape and stock trim, unlike mine. And the 3rd-gen MR-S is one of the few modern roadsters I actually like (but beef up the engine somehow).

I've become enamored of the idea of lightweight cars, and a Japanese kei car with a bit of performance sounds like a lot of fun. This might be one of the best, with a tiny turbo engine. It only weighs 1400 pounds! Other alternatives: Honda Beat, Daihatsu Mira TR-XX, Autozam, Suzuki Cappucino.

The truth is I'm just not a "supercar" guy. Some kind of reverse snobbery prevents me from having true ferrari or lamborghini lust. The supercars I like are the slightly oddball ones and the underdogs -- like a Swedish supercar, or one made by Ford. I don't know, this thing is beautiful; though Jeremy Clarkson's was such a pain he finally got rid of it in favor of a lamborghini. Go figure.
