About this trail:
One of the most striking things about this - is that there's not a lot here we haven't thought of. Everyone is clearly struggling with the same issues we are.
Leaving "collections" off the front page is increasingly a strategy people use. Exceptions are schools like MIT, Stanford, Harvard - schools with lots of unique collections.

This page is trying to do everything we are. More aggressive about asking for money. Views are horrible - just big tables. "Departments and Collections" might be useful
2
Another school that doesn't need donors.
I don't think the images highlighting the collections really work.
Interesting thing here - both "featured resource" and "featured service"
Also top left nav = quicklinks

Interesting bits here - their subject browse is front and center. Probably b/c it's more functional than many? But it is one of the few where the "search" "browse" distinction makes sense in the nav - because it is actually what's going on here.
"Community" is an interesting header, but I don't think it really works. I wouldn't think to look for the "donate" stuff here, for example.

The A-Z under "About the libraries" on the right is kind of weird.
How do I is all search focused?
Main nav is the same "resources/about/service" distinction. Nothing here for collections?

The banner is So Weird.
Quick links on the right here -
Again with the Find/Services/About categories.
Collections aren't on the front page here, either

Picture changes on refresh. Still don't know if I like it
There's a LOT going on here.
"Research collections" might be a way to refer to collections?
News and events is getting a lot of screen time here
They've got the explanatory text on their metasearch, but it's actually hard to see even though it's right. there.

Well, this is tiny.
I've never understood why this is the e-library when a lot of the stuff on this page describes the physical library
Their main categories are weird too - "Arts?" -- I'd love to hear what people think this is going to when they click it - it seems to be the physical art collections

I kind of like this "how to" section
And the "Inside the libraries" language is interesting

How do I on the right - kind of hard to see, but useful
Quick links on the left under a catalog search - I imagine many MIT users do know what a catalog is
"Help yourself" is interesting language

"Test pilot" (under quick links) is interesting - but I wonder if anyone really uses it.
"Featured item" under each of the main categories on the center of the page.

This one uses the "collections" word, but I don't like it. As a matter of fact, this is probably the only one that doesn't use any kind of "search" language at all
I kind of like the way it looks, though.

I included this one b/c of the "search for a database" option
And because - WEIRD. Why that big space in the middle of hte page?
"Unique BYU collections" is interesting language
