Apple sues maker of TightPod sheaths for laptops and MP3 players. Apple claims ownership of the word Pod, despite its presence in the dictionary and continued usage in English speaking countries for hundreds of years. Apple of course stands on a high moral ground having used the name Apple Computer despite 2 settlements with The Beatles Apple Corp over the use of the 'Apple' name in conjunction with Business and most recently the music business.

This is a great concept and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this article in Business 2.0. Its a great example of how a company and a dinosaur like industry can be reinvented with new models and technologies. See also My trail Airline Reactions to recent Terror

I don't disagree nor disagree with this situation. I am trying to understand more completely all the circumstance, situations and emotions that drive more and more countries and groups to re-write history. History is always a subjective view of the past, and is always re-written from one book to the next, one generation to the next. Official acts such as this strike me as something that is relatively new to the history of the world, however, I could be wrong. Maybe the Roman empire struck down histories from centuries past. The Vatican seems to re-write its perception of history on a regular basis and I suppose its views on the history of Aristotle might be an example of rewriting history for the antiquities.
