In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low started Girl Scouts in the United States. She believed that girls should have a chance to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually into adulthood. As the organization spread across the country, regional councils developed to help serve girls in their local areas.

 While making cookies Girl Scouts learn life skills like goal setting, money management, and teamwork.  Customers who buy cookies not only get a great treat, but also get to support girls in their own community. All of the proceeds from the cookie activities support Girl Scouting in the local community.

The Girl Scouts are in their 90th year in the cookie business.  They had been under attack by a few health-conscious consumers groups recently. Therefore, this year they have most of the artificial fat out of all varieties of their treats. They are more healthier now.

Girl scouting helps girls grow strong in character. By taking part in Girl Scout Cookie activities, they learn not only to make plans and  manage money, but also to set goals and attain them. In the whole process, they also get to have fun with family and friends.
