Take a journey of adventure and danger as you choose  to travel the Underground Railroad.  Get a feel for how life would have been trying to escape to freedom.  Then revisit the video beginning and choose not to travel the Underground Railroad.  Make a venn diagram comparing the two choices.

Watch a Black History video of your choice and considering events you view, write a paragraph on what life was like as an African American during the given time period.  Elaborate with examples from the video.

An Incredible Journey
A National Park Service project is focused on protecting and sharing Harriet Tubman's incredible life story at sites in Maryland and New York, written  by Bob McIntosh.  After reading the information, write a response in your Penzu journal stating your stand on the relevance or irrelevance of this project.  Be sure to state examples as you draw conclusions from the text.

This site shares more information regarding contributions of Blacks to society.  Also, enjoy the additional information on the origin of Black History Month.  There is also a section for ways to celebrate this holiday.  Plan an evening of celebration for your friends based on ideas you derived from this website.  Outline your evening plans in your Penzu journal.

Choose two African American Icons from the categories of "Activists, Artists, Scientists, Entertainers, etc." and be ready to share with our group pertinent information regarding their contributions and achievements to our society.  Be sure to take accurate notes and be prepared to contribute to a Powerpoint Presentation on Black American Icons in the United States.
