This is a great place to stay if you want to scuba dive and have your own boat. They have there own marina, and can refill air tanks.

Notes for planning a trip to thailand. Highlights from past trips: Chiang Mai - nice sized city with lots of temples, easy to get around by walking or Tuk Tuk. Bangkok - crazy/big/frenetic traffic but you must stay for a night or two. Don't miss the Emerald palace. Koh Samuii - it sounds like its been quite developed since I visited. But on the plus side, it is easier to get to with its own airport. Krabi/Railay beach: beautiful limestone cliffs/white sand beaches... Phuket: it was overdeveloped back in the 90's.
