Reading President Bush's September 20, 2001 speech in April of 2007 makes me wonder about the actual outcome of the "fight" he talks about. He said: "This is not, however, just America's fight. And what is at stake is not just America's freedom. This is the world's fight. This is civilization's fight. This is the fight of all who believe in progress and pluralism, tolerance and freedom." Has the US involvement in the Middle East (and all over the world, for that matter) led to greater tolerance and freedom? I don't think so. Just look at the loss of personal freedom experienced by so many citizens and visitors to the US since the Homeland Security Act.
