Reviewed on March 12th, 2008 Find moreI’ve been an HG client for more than 5 years and overall I am very happy with their service and product offering. However, be prepared to receive lots (and lots!) of spam through their mailservers. They simply do not have effective enough spam filtering.
Yes, HG do have spamassassin (SA) and spambox but SA doesn’t seem to filter well enough and often spam will all of a sudden increase 10 fold for several weeks with no real explanation or help. I have experienced this many times over my several years with HG (and am experiencing at this very moment).

When you register for this forum, it starts with a great script to verify that you are human. Instead of those annoying catcha scripts which are so hard to get right (do capitals count?), there is a clever approach.

I was sniffing around moving to HostGator a LONG time ago (2004, if you look back at my original forum posts) - But I reached the tipping point, and finally made the move.

I’ve been here a little over a month, purchased hosting on the 7th of February. I was originally hosted by a ‘FreeForum’ host and they provide a service where you can upgrade hosting and get your forum transfered to a paid host, which is what I did.

I was then told to transfer my .co.uk domain name it would cost me money. Also that my forum would loose posts upto 72 hours (I questioned this before I signed up and was told everything would be fine).
