You cant even use certain PHP functions & settings, & cant chmod 777, which can be required with most scripting languages, and dont even say 755 will work, it wont.

In the few weeks I’ve been with HostGator, it’s been great. My old host had some serious issues with the SQL server and connection to my php sites, but HG seems to be superior in that aspect.

Following a failure in running php for vBulletin, I posted a support ticket at 5:21 (10:21GMT) and have received nothing but an automated acknowldgement.

i was using streamline, but their servers did not allow php-max memory to be very high, so when i got to add lots of images to a gallery, they crashed and gave me errors, and as for search engine optimisation, there was NONE, so did not get much traffic, so i gave up,

Just bought a 6 month baby gator trial and so far have been having a great experience. They are more up to date with php etc than my current host and although it has only been a week, so far very impressed.

I’ve worked full time at web site development over the past 7 years, either for clients or else in the pursuit of advancing my own personal knowledge of PHP, MySQL, cPanel, etc.

I´m seriously considering moving from Hostgator, even though I´m overall quite satisfied. Two issues: 1. Chat scripts are no longer allowed. 2. PHP limits can´t no longer be changed: http://support.hostgator.com/index.p…rticl eid=203
