Exploring the Nardoo
Client - NSW Dept of Land and Water Conservation
1996
Exploring the Nardoo was developed to foster a better public understanding of the problems and issues faced by the Department of Water Resources when managing inland river systems.
The program is based on an inland water catchment, which can be investigated at four DemoUrls along the river, and through four time zones.
Each time zone has a particular theme that transposes the four DemoUrls and each DemoUrl has an embedded investigation in the form of a scenario. Users can move from DemoUrl to DemoUrl in each time zone and along the length of the river viewing media and data embedded into the environment.
Support tools allow students to develop a comprehensive report including video, audio and graphic material.
Help facilities and guides, as well as interactive simulations and games, have been designed to support exploring solutions to problems such as:
- blue-green algal growth
- household water usage
- management of dam water resources
