They have created a line in the sand demarking all outsiders as against their cause. This includes news organizations and at times relief workers. From a battle field perspective they are waging a media or marketing campaign and any news organization that does not propogate their cause in their preferred manner is a potential enemy. In attacking the media they get more attention and from their perspective their cause is furthered. They get more media due to the capture and they further insight their opposition to truly become more antagonized and fight them all the more. They want to pull the greater powers of the world into a fight against them so that they can show their localized people that the world is against them. They are creating a self fulfilling prophecy by antagonizing the world into bullying them.

France: 'Now or never' for Iran - Aug 23, 2006

According to this statement if its in context it would appear that even France is losing patience with Iran despite the large number of contracts and business relationships between the countries. It makes us consider that as a nations associates and not so close friends start to distance themselves, it puts Iran in a more isolated position from which it is easier for them to act or react in a manner that is going to upset those former close friends. France and many other nations are not following the concept of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. They are distancing themselves from a former friend. Even if they consider Iran more risky then they should draw them in closer as a potential enemy.

Japanese man 'shot by Russians'

I had forgotten that Russia and Japan had never signed a peace treaty to end WWII. This contract includes provisions for the term of their 'Active' duty enlistment and can also include provisions for their 'inactive' duty enlistment. An inactive duty enlistment does not include an active enlistment in the reserves. However, upon leaving active duty, soldiers turn in their active duty ID card and are provided an inactive reserve ID card. I know this from experience. I served for 4 years in active duty in the Army and then served 4 years on inactive duty. I was never called up. However, due to other provisions in my own contract, I can be called back at anytime until I turn 60 years of age if the required duty fits within the specialty of my MOS.

Does bin Laden trail lead to Pakistan? - Aug 23, 2006

bin Laden earned the support and respect of Pakistanis in the 80's.
