Rising from the ashes of the Libertines, Pete Doherty formed the Babyshambles, as famous for cancelling gigs as they are for Pete's drug dependence. Notoriously axed by Oasis in their 2005 UK tour for failing to turn up, they are drugs in every sense of the word, destructive as well as addictive.

Pete Doherty spent most of his childhood moving about the UK and Europe as a result of his father's assignments. At the age of 17 he moved away from his family to live with his grandmother in North London -- an environment he prefered to any of the other places in the world he had lived. Pete excelled as a student, achieving top grades and taking the top prize in a poetry competition; this ultimately earned him admission to Oxford University to study English (some sources state it was the University of London), but after his first year he dropped out and moved into a London flat with friend Carl Barât.

Carl Barat has revealed how his reunion with former Libertines bandmate Pete Doherty happened last week . The pair played on the same stage together for the first time since 2004 at Doherty's London Hackney Empire show. Speaking to NME.COM, Barat explained that he and Doherty began plotting the link-up when they met at this year's Shockwaves NME Awards on March 1, over a month before the show.
