This is the editor I use to edit my pages. It is free for personal/non-commercial use. Works quite well for the price.. oh yeah, free! :)

If you want to develop on your own machine and edit the files, databases, etc all prior to uploading to your own site, this is the tool. It installs a local version of Apache for you and gets things setup for you to work and test locally.

This is a good free photo editing tool you can use for basic stuff.

This is a more powerful image editing tool for windows. it does a lot more than your basic paint.net, but it is more to learn as well.
