Chilling on top in a tiny bowl is caviar that’s been leeched of salt and infused with passion fruit, orange and Armagnac liqeur. More on the Grand Opulence. The sundae isn’t meant to be a spur-of-the-moment purchase. It’s only available by appointment, and the ingredients--everything from the Parisian candied fruits to the pricey Amedei Porcelana chocolate--have to be ordered in advance. Bruce personally supervises each construction, a 20-minute process because of the delicate nature of the ingredients. Chocolate is chopped and melted; ice cream is layered with Madagascar vanilla. Once customers have savored the delicacy, they get to keep the golden spoon and $300 Baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet.

Get acquainted with the most expensive desserts ever in this slide show...we need to know whether the wallet and the taste buds are treated similarly but that can be said only after a personal meeting with this beauty...

Extraordinary Desserts has two locations, the original location on 5th in Hillcrest and a second location in downtown San Diego. The downtown location opened late summer 2004 on the corner of Union and Ash. Desserts, coffee and tea are available at both locations. The downtown location also serves wine and light fare (cheese and bread, bruschetta, hummus or pesto and bread, panini).
